Meditation is the simple and direct practice of moment to moment mindfulness. Through careful and sustained observation we experience the ever changing flow of the mind/body process. With cultivated awareness, we are able to accept more openly the pleasure and pain, fear and joy, and sadness and happiness that inevitable occur in life. Meditation classes offer a wide variety of methods to bring peace and equanimity to the mind. Some of the meditation techniques taught include breath and full body awareness, chakra meditations, cleansing meditations such as trataka, Osho meditations, silent meditation, guided visualization, mantra meditations, object concentration and many more. The practice of meditation brings deep internal awareness, quiets the fluctuations of the mind, and brings sustainable peace to the practitioner. As insight into ourselves depends, we develop greater equanimity and peace in the face of change. Wisdom and compassion increasingly become the guiding principles in our lives. Blankets are provided. Students are welcome to bring their own cushions. This class is suitable for all levels.
